Paul Renaud just finished drawing and coloring the image
for the poster of the convention in Lille,
where Paul will be one of many guests.
The Lille Comics Festival 2008 will take place Saturday 1st and Sunday
2nd of November 2008
at the Sugar Hall in Old Lille.
Last year, The Hero Initiative, the charity dedicated
to helping older comic creators in medical or financial need, enlisted
the aid of 100 top-flight Spider-Man artists throughout history to
create The Ultimate Spider-Man #100 Project, a collection of 100 original
Spider-Man covers. Hero is reprising the program with something meaner
and greener. Marvel Comics has generously donated 100 blank-covered
cardstock copies of the new Hulk #1 to Hero. The call has gone out
to create a new, Hulk-centric "Ultimate 100," and dozens of artists
are currently putting pen to paper. Artists involved include well-known
Hulk vets such as Sal Buscema, Mike Deodato Jr., Ron Garney, Ed McGuinness,
Don Perlin, Herb Trimpe, Ron Wilson, and more. In addition, Marvel
superstars such as J. Scott Campbell, John Cassaday, Frank Cho, David
Finch, Joe Quesada and John Romita Sr. have stepped up to add their
own take on ol' Greenskin.
Here's Paul Renaud's contributions to the initiative:
Dynamite has confirmed for Newsarama that it will continue
its “Eva” property (though now re-named “Eva: Daughter of Dracula”)
in March, when the character will crossover with Top Cow’s the Darkness,
marking the two company’s second such collaboration. The project will
be written by Leah Moore and John Reppion, with art by Edgar Salazar,
and covers by Brett Booth, Salazar and Paul Renaud.
2000 ex. Qu’on se le dise…
December 6: SPACENIGHT - ROM TRIBUTE SHOW
A Collection Of Digital Prints & Original Art To Benefit Bill Mantlo
Floating World proprietor Jason Leivian writes: "The first comic I
ever read was ROM Spaceknight, a silver cyborg fighting evil monsters
throughout the universe. I collected every issue until the series
was cancelled at #75 (when I asked the comic clerk why it was cancelled
he kindly replied, 'Well, they just ran out of stories to tell.').
I didn’t know it at the time, but the artist of that first issue was
Steve Ditko, who would later become one of my all time favorites.
"Years later I learned that all of these incredible stories were written
by one man, Bill Mantlo. At the same time I learned that he had been
injured in a terrible hit and run accident in 1992. Due to the severe
injuries, Bill currently resides in a Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Nursing Home, and will probably do so for the rest of his life.
"This show will serve as a fundraiser and celebration of the stories
Bill has given us. All of the artwork and more will be compiled in
a tribute comic next year that will be sold as a non-profitbenefit
book for Bill’s brother/caregiver, Mike Mantlo, to provide funding
to enable Bill to enjoy somewhat of a quality of life."

We've created a new section on my message board to allow
my fellow artists (pencillers, inkers, colorists) to post their work.
The idea is to have another place on the web to show artwork
to the various editors that shop forums for new talents.
We got some awesome work posted there already,
so at worst we'll get a place to look at some great art.
We know for sure that some very fine people at Marvel, Image, DC,
Dark Horse
and Dynamite check my message board from time to time... so I thought
it would be cool if that could help some talented folks to get noticed.
Diversity rules! So feel free to post your work there
and we'll make sure to bring editors to look at the art posted as
often as we can.
